 BIOGRAPHY

Laurie Tremblay is a Quebec lyric soprano known for her warm tone, authenticity on stage and natural musicality. An “opera singer to follow” (Irène Brisson, revue l'Opéra), she shines “for the claritý the text and the round, velvety timbre of her voice."

On stage, she has performed roles such as Mimi (La bohème), La Reine des Lys (Peau d'Âne, world premiere), Mercedes (Carmen) and Amour (Écho et Narcisse). She has performed at the Festival d'Opéra de Québec, the Festival d'Opéra de Saint-Eustache and the Opéra de Rimouski.

In concert, she sang Mozart's Requiem with the Hawkesbury Chamber Orchestra. She also participates in various recitals, mainly in Quebec City and Montreal.

 

Laurie completed her master's degree in performance at Université Laval under the mentorship of Quebec soprano Hélène Guilmette. Her teachers and coaches include Éthel Guéret, Louise-Andrée Baril, Martin Dubé and Jean-François Mailloux. She perfected her vocal skills at the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec and the Conservatoire de Musique de Rimouski, at the Scuola Giovanni Grasso and in the Opera Nuova program. She has worked with conductors such as Emmanuel Plasson, Gilles Auger and Marc Trautmann, and has taken part in Masterclasses with masters such as Lisette Oropesa, Suzy Leblanc, Richard Margison and Micheal McMahon.

 

Laurie is the recipient of numerous awards, including several scholarships for excellence from the Fondation des Conservatoires de Musique and Université Laval. She won first prize at the Concours d'Art Lyrique de la Relève musicale de Québec and third prize at the Canadian Music Competition.

 

In addition to her solo activities, Laurie performs in several ensembles, including the Opéra de Montréal chorus, the Opéra de Québec chorus and the Montreal Bach Festival choir. Always ready to share her art and meet new audiences, she is also an artist-mediator at the Opéra de Montréal.
